Any idea what type of squash/pumpkin...

Hi all,
I've been busy this year experimenting with growing different lockdown veg for the first time.  A friend gave me a courgette plant a few weeks ago;  this is it, but it's not a courgette  :D
does anyone know what it may be and how big it may grow?
Many thanks

  • It looks similar to a Patti Pan squash  :)

It's a patty pan squash. Looks ready for picking now.

    Absolutely agree. Love them. 😋

  • That's a nice surprise  :D
I'm guessing I should have picked the larger one a while ago then?  but I thought they were yellow when ripe and mine is bulbous rather than scalloped at the edges.  But that's great, thank you, I'll pick it  :o

Pattypans are pale green when they’re ready to pick and eat … I like to use them when they’re just a bit bigger than the palm of my hand, but you can leave them to grow a bit bigger if you want … a bit like courgettes growing into marrows.  And if they’ve got too big they make great chutney. 😋

  • Thank you @Dovefromabove that’s good to know, and to @Gearóid and @philippasmith2 for your help.
