Beetroot no show ?

My Beetroots have all grown with plenty of leaves but no actual beetroots have formed, they have been in for months now. I sowed them in a trug with multi purpose compost ,would that make any difference?

Possibly too crowded or lack of phosphorus & too much nitrogen.
The would haven better in the ground.
Still eat the leaves tho..

If it's any consolation my beetroot harvest wasn't great either..

Yes agree that they need space.

Have picked some over the last few weeks and brilliant.

Also sowed some more seeds 3 weeks ago to try and get another row but even if they don't make big beets they can still be used for the stems and small beets.
