Odd growth on rose "indian summer"

What looks like growth from a different rose has appeared on a HT rose I have its on rose indian summer which is pretty compact this new growth is a much lighter green and not as waxy looking as the rest of the plant and is already about 1.6 metres high oddly its only this new growth that's attracting the saw fly as well .....

Looks like the rootstock has sprouted - cut those shoots off right back to base :)
  • I had wondered about that, does that mean I didn't plant it deep enough? ..
I wonder what the rootstock is from ....

It's a sucker, lots of roses are grafted onto stronger roots.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
