It can be kept going if you water it religiously, but it's not really good in pots - for the rest of the season it looks seriously unimpressive and you are therefore inclined to put it somewhere 'out of the way', where you will most likely forget to water it...
My sister had some in pots, but it was a stop-gap measure while she sorted the garden out. It flowered well in spring. Looked a bit of a sorry sight in late summer tbh.
