I had a single one last week in the garden. I was delighted.

Yes, I've had colonies living in my garden for years. I love having them here.

They eat the leaves of a few old rose bushes I dislike which I keep meaning to dig out, but I haven't noticed any damage elsewhere.
  • Yes many here in our orchard where we have kept an area of long grass and even more when we went on a walk on a limestone escarpment. As you walked they were hopping all over the place. No chance at counting them.

Loads here, or so my daughter says. I can't hear them at all!

What a coincidence. One landed on me this morning! First one I’ve seen this year.
  • In the 21 years we've lived here we hadn't seen any in our garden but this year we've had quite a few.

I remember my old dad losing the ability to hear crickets, swifts in the sky and the rain on  the roof. It was a series of heart breaking loses over the years.
