Shrub identification

Hello all!

Long time lurker and we have just moved in to our new house which comes with a good sized garden - the borders were pretty full of brambles, thistles and nettles and we were lucky enough to be able to clear them all and roots in a few days so now have a blank canvas.

Please could I have some help in identifying this rather large shrub, about 7 foot tall and has trumpet shaped pink and white flowers.

    Pretty sure it's a weigela.

It looks like a Weigela shrub.
  • Thank you both! I wondered about a weigela earlier but didn’t realise they could grow so big! I’m really pleased to know for sure, thanks for your help 😊

They can be pruned after flowering @lily.careylcP52PexqY. We did ours a couple of weeks ago when the flowers died off.

They can get very large, but you can certainly prune them.  It's especially beneficial for older shrubs that need rejuvenating :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
