Earwigs invading bird food?

Just went out doing my usual slug patrol when I noticed on the fat balls there was TONS of earwigs. Should I be concerned? Do they eat the fat?

Must be something tasty attracting them. Possibly insects if they're that kind of fat ball?
We don't get many earwigs, and I don't use fat balls through summer, but the slugs certainly enjoy any leftover bird food on the ground feeder.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
