What has happened to my eccromocarpus?
I have never grown these plants before but like to try something new each year .... so this year eccromocarpus. Three trailing through shrubs and others in two pots. They have been lovely - but something strange has happened to this one. The photo shows that the bottom foot or so of the stems is now "bright brown". If I scrape them they are green underneath. Do you think this is due to exposure to the heatwave of a few weeks ago? I am removing the large seeds and would love it to flower again. It has been well looked-after and is in a prominent spot (unfortunately). My understanding is they can flower until October.
