Hi
I have a Helleborus niger that's in a part shady place in the garden, does anyone have any idea why it is flowering at the moment, I bought it for winter colour

They often flower at other times apart from the usual winter/spring. They do here.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

They sometimes do that. It’s fine ,nothing to get concerned about .It will probably come again in about March or so .
  • Thankyou Fairygirl, its my first one and was unaware that it could flower at other times too, glad to know it's normal

  • Thankyou bcpathome that's a relief, I was a bit worried about it

Absolutely fine. I just noticed the other day that some of mine have buds. I often have other hellebores flowering in summer too.   :)
Always a bonus when you get another little flush of flowers  ;)

They start flowering here in November usually, and go right through.  :)

I can grow several different sp of Helleborus.
    Including the fabulous Helleborus multififus, H. x hybridus, H. foetidus  H.purpurescens. H. Viridis.etc
But always fail completely with Helleborus nigra.
    I have plant envy!
