Plant ID

Afternoon.

I’ve just been to a GC and picked up a couple of heuchera for £2.50 but they aren’t labelled other than “heuchera”!

Any heuchera nuts able to identify them?

Many thanks, you lovely lot.

J.

Looks like the common Purple palace variety .

    Thanks @Perki

There are no heuchera in my street so it’s not common here. 😂

@JamesSB You got a bargain there. You would think that with the amount of heucheras I have I would be able to give you an answer. Sometimes different varieties look similar at first and maybe you will have to wait until it flowers to be sure but I feel that @Perki is familiar with them and Purple Palace it will be. One of my favourite plants. Some grow to enormous sizes but others just stay neat and tidy. Hope yours give you plenty of pleasure.  :)

Thanks @Fran IOM Yes definitely a bargain. I’m very lucky having this GC a few stops away on the bus!

I look a bit odd with grasses on the seat next to me but it’s so cheap and the plants are looked after better than at some of the fancier GCs around here.

I shall see how they flower (maybe this year?) and post a follow-up.

I am judging it off colour and price , as you know they are plenty of varieties of heuchera it may not be purple palace. Purple palace I think what kicked heucheras off / brought more attention to them it very commonly found now in garden centres , its the first heuchera I bought years ago.

I bought 6 heuchera in a sale at our local GC just over 3 weeks ago.  They were in either 2L or 3L pots and I repotted them straightaway into 10L ones.  I think they were so relieved at having some space to grow that they’re all looking fantastic and 5 of them have sent up flower spikes.  So it is possible that yours will also flower.

    I’m sure they will @Mopani

I’ve had great success in the past with them in pots in my yarden.

Never planted them in the ground before so it’s a new experience and learning curve.

Here’s one I brought with me when we moved.

Sorry to hi-jack and this isn't the best photo, but can anyone ID this heuchera? It's a cutting from another garden so I've no idea.
