Chilli Help

Kitty52Kitty52 Posts: 184
I have  chilli plants which I grew from seed, De Cayenne.  I have healthy  leafy plants but no sign of any flowers. Any idea what the problem could be and is it probably too late this year now? They are in a greenhouse.

There's plenty of time left maybe if you treat the plants to a bit of tough love and don't water them too much they might put some flowers out.

My de Cayenne seemed to take an age before a couple of plants started to produce flowers @Kitty52 but, once they did, a lot arrived quickly. That has all happened over the last couple of weeks so I wouldn't give up yet. I'd agree with holding back on the watering.

Are they in a good pot size? A couple of mine stayed in smaller pots too long and those haven't flowered yet after getting rootbound earlier in the process.

Barry Island I will try that.  I try and only water them when the leaves look as if they are wilting which has been maybe quite a lot as we have had such warm weather.  Biglad one is in a bigger pot and the other.  I thought I had heard Monty saying they don't like too big pots.  What size do you reckon they should be in roughly?

I'm definitely no expert and probably confined some of mine too much in response to hearing that about not liking pots that are too big.

This is my best plant and is in a 16cm diam pot (20cms depth).

I've got one in a bigger pot (20cms x 20cms), which has only just started developing a couple of flowers and seven more in a variety of smaller pots. None of these are as developed so 16cms x 20cms has been optimum for me.
