Blackbirds - why do they do it?

    On the plus side recently we have had a blackbird sitting on the chimney stack opposite and  as soon as the sun is up and at evening time making the most wonderful songs 

    Just joyful.
    Everyone is just trying to be Happy.....So lets help Them.

    Here is the usual behaviour of our resident blackbird. When I'm weeding/scratching the soil, etc. he comes along, stands about 2 metres away on the lawn, and just looks at me. Then he goes away, and comes back some time later, stands about 2 metres away from me, with his beak full of worms... as a kind of offering, I wonder? I thank him and tell him I don't eat that kind of food, and he flies away.
