Plant ID - is this really wild?

alfharris8alfharris8 Posts: 513
A while ago I posted a photo of a mystery plant that grows in my wall bed.
Someone suggested Woundwort but the leaves don't smell and are really heart shaped.  I wondered if there was more than one kind of Woundwort that the ones I have lurking in the garden or if anyone else has any other suggestions. Thanks.

    Might be Betonica macrantha

I’ve rotated your photo. You just need to crop it a little for the website to load it in the correct orientation

    Stachys hummelo?
It seems most peoples' photos come out sideways.  I wish the powers that be could get it sorted, I'm getting a crick in my neck!

I think @Athelas is right with Betonica macrantha.   :)

I was nearly right - Betonica macrantha used to be Stachys.  All these name changes!! :/

Thanks very much for solving this mystery.
Having something to go on I have now seen a photo on The Beth Chatto website and it's a match for sure.
    Very pleased 😀

  • @Athelas is right. It is Betonica macrantha.
