You will need to give a bit more info to obtain any useful advice. A photo of the trunk perhaps and whether it is just one part affected ? From the photo it seems just the RH side which looks rough. Any signs of damage to the trunk ?
Trace the branches back to check for any breakages. If not, I suspect it may just be suffering from the hot weather. The bark does seem to have a bit of splitting, which can be an entry wound for all sorts of pest and diseases, but I doubt this is likely the cause. If not too far into the main area, I would prune back beyond the damaged split areas.
Other things to keep check on your shrub is whether it is vulnerable due to competition with tree roots around the area, whether it is planted originally too close to a wall/boundary. Both can make it more prone to drought issues in hot dry summers. You may need to water the shrub in the hot weather.
