Suggestions for planting mid July

Hi everyone,

I've managed to harvest some autumn planted garlic and onions as well as some beetroot and carrots, freeing up a load of pots. This is only my 2nd year at this gardening lark and the first year didn't go so well.

So.....with all the free pots and space i now have what should I plant, that would be ready before winter? Carrots, lettuce are my current thoughts, anyone got any better ideas.

Location is Central Belt of Scotland, first frost on average around 3rd week of October.

Thanks in advance

Not much really apart from what you've already suggested. Carrots might be ok, but I doubt they'd have enough time. Would depend largely on the variety.
Season is shorter here, as you've realised. If you're in a more sheltered town garden it might be better  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
