Upright, tidy, ornamental grass.

Would appreciate some ideas for an ornamental grass that is upright in habit and slender in habit please. 
Finer flowers rather than denser plumes I  preference.

I like molinias but had to move them to a sheltered spot in my last garden as their slender flowering stems were flattened by the slightest bit of wind.

Some forms of miscanthus can be slender and are much more sturdy, eg https://www.rhs.org.uk/Plants/316297/i-Miscanthus-sinensis-i-Starlight/Details  The other advantage of miscanthus is they are clump forming and won't send runners out like some other ornamental grasses which can behave like couch grass on steroids.

I have 8 of these and despite the endless winds and rain they still remain upright and look great.

Another vote for Miscanthus,  l have 2 clumps of "Adagio" that are very well behaved and the stems stay upright until late Winter or early Spring.
