Lavender browndula

I planted some lavender in a container a month or so ago but one side of it is looking unhappy. I might have planted too much in a container that isn't big enough. When you lift up the foliage the base of the plant looks brown/grey and I wonder if there are spores (see photos). It's in a south-facing spot but we've had very little sun and so much rain. Could it be too damp? Should I act now to help it, or leave it and hope it dries out?

@The_old_presbytery Just bumping up your thread for you to see if you get an answer to your query.  :).  Not something I could help you with but there will be plenty of others.
  • Thank you @Fran IOM :) I think I posted my question in the wrong thread. It should have been in 'problem solving' instead.

Lavenders like plenty of sun but don't like much water or nutrition. Not sure what you have planted it in but if its something which is nutrition rich such as compost they won't be happy. I just used garden soil and let the occasional rain take care of water, I might give it a weekly watering if no rain. I placed my potted french lavender in a sunny corner of the garden facing SW however a couple of days ago I noticed that the rear wasn't so happy due to lack of sun so moved it to a sunnier spot and turned it around so that the unhappy side gets more sun. Can't comment on pot side as you haven't shown the whole plant & pot.

@The_old_presbytery I don't think it matters too much which category you post in as the title would catch posters' attention if they are able to help you. Glad you have now had a response.  :)
