Plant Identification

Hi,
I'm hoping that someone can help me identify this plant. I have been to my local garden centre who, were unable to identify it.

If anyone knows what it is, can you please let me know. Thanks

The growth habit reminds me of a Sumac.  I believe there are red and smooth leaved varieties, but I've only grown Rhus typhina (stag's horn) and it's not that one.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Did it flower before it was hacked down?

It looks like Nandina domestica...not a happy one.

    Perthshire. SCOTLAND .
  • We inherited it like this, when we bought the house, presumably the previous owners hacked it down :(.
It's never done much for 2 years, but this year has started to give more leaves. In all this time it has never flowed or had any berries. The leaves remain all year!!
