Lupins only lasted 2 weeks

I had a great display of Lupins this year. However, they only lasted about 2 weeks. Normally would expect them to flower for a lot longer. Any ideas why this may be?  They are a mix of Russell and Festival. Second year in the ground. Thanks.

    It's probably to do with the weather. Mine didn't even last that long, next door's cat jumped about in them and broke the flower stems Grrr  :s
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    Annoying when you see others when you're out and about that have lasted longer than yours. Some of mine have since been destroyed by very heavy rainfall.
