To prune or not to prune

I discovered a mock Orange in my newly rented house back garden. Totally over taken but after opening it up it has put on a real show. All advice has been to prune after flowering YEARLY!! for next years flower but never after July. Mine is still going strong so should I or shouldn't I prune.

    The season is late in many parts of the country,  mine is still in flower too. I will prune as soon as it finishes,  I  may lose a bit of next years flower but not a huge amount.
