Clematis

rambotr27rambotr27 Posts: 7
hello,
a quick question. I have 3 different clematis in pots along a trellis and very stupidly I pruned them all the same in Feb and down to around 30cm. I have type 2 abs type 3.
the type 3 looks ok and is producing big buds but the other 2 clematis are producing tiny flower buds that aren’t doing anything.
I know I’ve messed up on the pruning, the question is: have I ruined these plants for future years?

thanks

    In a word, NO.
How can you lie there and think of England

Ok thanks. So if I prune correctly this year hopefully I won’t suffer from zero flowers this year?

When you prune next year they'll be fine - don't prune them again this year.
As long as you let them grow on, and they have adequate care, you should get flowers on the Group 2s later   :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Excellent, thank you. They’ve grown really well so the foliage looks nice at least 😂
