What to do with Dahlia's

Hi folks, I have planted some Dahlia this year for the first time ever. However, the original flowers are now losing their petals. Do I dead-head or cut off at the bottom of the stem to encourage new growth? There are plenty new fresh buds on the plant.

I always dead head my dahlias by cutting to the base of the stem.  None of my dahlias are anywhere near flowering yet though.

Cut off the spent flower stem. You can just deadhead but they can begin to look a bit messy. Very jealous mine are nowhere near flowering yet 🙂
