Sooty mould on Pieris?

Can anyone confirm that this is sooty mould on my well established pieris please? I've only just discovered it as it's only on the side of the plant that backs onto a fence so it's not usually visible. If it is, what's the best way to treat it?
Thanks

Looks like it to me.  This link should help you: Sooty moulds / RHS Gardening

Thanks Plantminded. I thought it probably was - just wanted confirmation.

I finally got round to checking the underside of the leaves and found these ugly beasties. They don't seem to correspond to the four main culprits identified on the RHS web page, so can someone please tell me what they are and how to get rid of them.
    Thanks
