can anyone identify this spiky growth

i wondered if anyone can help me identify what this is growing in the soil where a bamboo is growing

    I don't see any spikey growth other than your bamboo  - you have something else (broad green leaves ) growing in the middle. A weed ?

    Do you mean those two new bamboo shoots?
    A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

    is that what it is .. .. i just saw two spikes coming from the soil and wasn’t sure what it was ..  so it’s new Bamboo shoots .. thanks so much for your response
