Dalhia seedlings..

Yesterday I noticed these dahlia seedlings(self seeded) and lifted and  potted. Some are about 2 in & some are 4 in tall. I was wondering if they grow and get flowers by mid August and develop tuber or is it too late now. I don't think they are of any hybrid variety because I never succeed growing from those showy varieties. These may be of those dwarf dalhia. 
What you think knowledgeable folks!

I had a cutting from a friend, that grew, flowered and made tubars by the end of the year.
Not a seed, but probably similar.

Just make sure that those damn snails and slugs don't get to them first!
This is my first year having dahlias (1 bought grown from GC and some grown from seed) - they must be number 1 on the list for snails & slugs the way that mine have been ravaged.

Fire

Keep them high off the ground and check them.
