Section off small part of garden

Hi

I have a very small mostly decked garden and no real areas where I can hide 'stuff'. I have a small tool cupboard but during most parts of the year have a small area where I may keep bags of compost or empty pots or plants I'm trying to bring back to life  :p . I want to hide the view of this area slightly and was thinking of either a trellis planter or some kind of panel.  Any brilliant ideas? Any planter recommendations?  It would only need to be about 1.5 meters long and the same height or slightly taller.  Thanks

Something like this? It's a bit pricey though. Or this kind of thing, maybe, if you can find a taller version?

  • thanks @JennyJ I like both of those and could hang little pots off them possibly...not sure how they'd fare in the wind but could fold them down.  Thanks for the ideas  :)

You could make the second suggestion cheaper,I don't think either would stand heavy wind.if you're on a budget a couple of pallets, hinged at right angles, they are strong, and you could hang,/ screw pots on it

Have you thought of building some sort of storage bench to hide pots and tools etc? You could even make a sort of lounging deck with space underneath for storage

Two posts bedded in concrete for sturdy stability and one trellis or fence panel between them or, even cheaper and probably stronger, tensioned wires between the posts at 30cm intervals and then a lovely climbing or rambling rose to cover it and hide what's behind.  Have a look online for suitable planters in wood, recycled plastic or source some second hand scaffolding boards and make your own to size.

You could buy one or two of these to stash pots and so on - https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/hyllis-shelving-unit-in-outdoor-00278578/ - with optional plastic covers for rain protection or use as a mini greenhouse.

  • thanks @Nanny Beach and @Loxley. Yes definitely thought of making something and I like the panel idea hadn't thought of using pallets.  I already have a storage bench one of those plastic ones which a lot of stuff goes in but I just want to block off the bit with watering cans and random stuff too!  Lounging area sounds good too  :)
  • thanks @Obelixx I've actually got a similar shelving unit (one of the things I want to hide) and can't bed into concrete as its al decking.  I could maybe hinge something from the fence post that's already there though ..... thanks for your ideas!

You can buy metal base plates for fence posts and screw those to your decking.  Better a trellis panel then tho as the tensioning of wires plus weight of a rose would be too much stress on the fixings.

Regarding what I suggested yesterday this was in yesterdays garden mag, huh,I just rotated, never mind you'll get the gist. There is a big shortage of wood, apparently the American market have bought bit up, having lost theirs in forest fires.
