Is it woody around the base? Check out Coronilla Valentina Subsp Glauca.'Citrina'. This plant can flower on and off all year round, but mainly in early spring time.
  • Yes, it is woody round the base.  Does it have a common name.  Looking forward to going back to major Garden Centre and saying Hey, It's this.
  • Hi Borderline, thank you for letting me know, this is exactly it.  Brilliant.

I have always called them Coronilla shrubs, although in this country, it's commonly grown as a wall shrub because it needs warmth and protection from the cold. I have just checked on RHS, and they name it as Scorpion Vetch if that helps.
  • Yes, thanks, I have mine in a raised bed at the back near the fence and beside a honeysuckle.  I have asked my local Dobbies and they told me a"Honeysuckle", a Birdsfoot Trefoil, which I knew wasn't, so great, I now know exactly what it is.  Many thanks.  Eithne

My guess would be a hollyhock?

Which one? The pinky redflower is Hollyhock and the shrub in front is Hebe.
  • Hello, I don't think it's a Hollyhock, as the stamen is different.  Yes, I know the front one is a Hebe.
Maybe I'll hear from someone else.
    Thanks
