Lilac bush with tiny leaves and lovely scent.

Can anyone identify this plant? It is a sort of Lilac bush, highly scented with miniature leaves and small sprigs of flowers. I was told it was called Lilac v- unfortunately I can't remember the rest of the second word, but it definitely began with v. Thanks for any help.

I have both the regular sized lilac and the miniature one (I think it’s villosa).

I would only say that while the regular lilac is completely unfussy about soil, watering, sunlight and frost, the miniature one isn’t.

I have been pandering to its needs for several years now, moving it from place to place over time (it’s in a pot).

I thought I’d got it just right last summer, it grew, it didn’t shrivel in the sun, it liked the compost I’d found for it, it looked fine.

And then the frost came in May and whacked all the flower buds. The regular lilac, not ten feet away, was untouched.

    A bit of a diva.🙂

I tried a syringa x laciniata, gorgeous plant. Carefully positioned in the garden to suit it’s needs, carefully tended and cosseted. It died 😞
