Japanese Acer problem

My Japanese Acer has developed markings on the mature red leaves. The younger green leaves are, as yet, unmarked. Please advise what the problem may be and what might be the solution.

you are probably correct.
We did experience a severe hail storm about three weeks ago.
Hopefully, no long term damage.
At first I suspected a disease, either fungal or caused by insects.
