What are these insects?

Hi
I was mowing the grass today and saw all these little insects covering what I think is some kind of elderberry plant. Does anyone know what the insects are? They are all over it.

Aphids.  The white ones are the dead skins they cast off as they grow.  Try blasting them off with the spray from a hose.  Hopefully, ladybirds and other predators will arrive and clear them up soon, but the hosing should help remove a good proportion.
PS: they love elderberry, particularly the black ones commonly known as 'blackfly.'
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
