Division Help

Hello everyone,

I have in a pot a Sambucus Nigra Black Beauty, Berberis Orange Sunrise and Euonymus Emerald and Gold since the end of 2019 because the colours looked good together. If I am looking to divide them when would be the best time to do so? I’m new to gardening so didn’t want to prune/lift them at the wrong time. Thank you!

Hello @sham1986U4rKOt15  and welcome to the forum 😊

They do look good together don’t they 😎 but they’re going to be overcrowded in that pot. I’d put them in individual pots that size and then group the pots together so you still get that combination.
Best done in winter while they’re dormant ... I think I’d do it in early to mid Feb.

I’d plant them in a John Innes No 3 loam based compost with a few handfuls  of ordinary multipurpose compost mixed in to lighten it a bit.

    Hope that helps 😊
