Plant ident

Hello everyone

Having a complete mind blank & need help identifying a plant. I don't have a photo, only a sketchy memory.

Mid to late summer flower.
It's a pale lilac/powder blue flower similar to chicory... Grey/green foliage... Long flower stem.

The seed heads are the bit I like most- papery & silver but with dark edging. Segmented (think artichoke) shapes fused together... but much, much smaller (1-2cm).

I know it's something simple but having trouble digging it out of my brain.
