Greenhouse shading

Hi,

We fitted some greenhouse shade netting to our 8x6 GH yesterday and it's helped bring the temperature down from over 40 to around 30. We fitted it to the roof and side wall of the south facing elevation.

What I'm unsure of though is so people generally leave it in place all summer or do you remove it on overcast days? It's fitted internally with proper clips so my intention is to leave it in place. Growing chillies and tomatoes in there.

I have blinds on mine and generally leave them down from around now until the sun is weaker in late summer.
If it looks like several days of dull forecast I roll them up, but it only takes a few seconds to do with blinds.
I also grow tomatoes in the border and chilis and peppers on the staging.
Giving the floor a damping down also helps keep temps down a bit.
Hope you have a good harvest!

I leave it in place ,mainly because it's a major faff to remove it. From personal experience l find the change in light levels doesn't seem to make much difference to the plants. I usually grow ornamentals, although this year there will be peppers, aubergines and a lone cucumber plant as well.
It usually stays on until late September if we get an Indian Summer.
