Splitting canna

Hi, I bought this canna a few weeks ago and have been hardening it off ready to plant outside. It is destined for a large container. 
Should I split it into three separate plants or leave it how it is?

    I believe cannas are split in spring just as the tubers are coming into growth. That’s a lovely plant I wouldn’t risk splitting it. You might end up with a shoot that has insufficient root to support it.

    I'd put it into a bigger pot with good compost. 
    They LOVE LOTS of water and LOTS of feeding.
    Is it Tropicanna Black?

    Unlabelled plant other than a picture. But red flowers/ dark foliage so I think so?
