How long does it take for a magnolia showing sign of life planted from bare root

Given the time of year and if planted well, you should be seeing signs of life by now.

Thanks for your reply.  I bought two of these from mail order and planted them in two separate pot about 3 weeks ago.  This is first time for me.  I am not sure what sign of life am I looking for?  They still look like the way they came.
