How do you propagate aquilegias so they come true? I have one that looks like frilly Victorian knickers which I'd like to propagate. I doubt it would come true from seed. I think I have read that you can do root cuttings but not sure.
Those old fashioned ones often do come true or at least, in other colours. It's quite good fun planting their seeds, just to see what you get but I believe you can buy seeds for this type.
All of the different varieties I have comes from seeds a colleague gave me. I think it was aquilegia guiness which I think is blue and not frilly. I do like the various colours and petal combinations that pop up despite some of them looks like they been washed at 90 degrees
