What is this seed head?

I I collected this seed head last autumn, think it was a flower. Anyone know what it is? And can I sow the seeds by removing each little one?

Did you have Scabious in your garden? 
I doubt they’ll have any seeds in them now,  they’ll be small and dark, but I suspect they have already dropped out.

@Lyn thanks, I think I did have some scabious last year. I think it came from a butterfly seed mix. I’ve just sowed the seeds in some fresh compost but I think I’m a month behind schedule. Probably won’t get any flowers this year if I’ve missed the boat.

I think the little seeds are hanging on to the ends of the little hairy bits?

Thats good, did it still have some seeds in it?
It will flower next year and be a nice big plant by then.

The seed seems to be in the little paper sack like you can see from the top one that’s on its side. If they aren’t going to flower I’ll put them in a plant pot if they do sprout, save it for next year.
