Shrub / Tree ID

Please can someone help identify this shrub / tree. It was cut back hard a year ago and is now flowering. It has prickles.

Yes, the leaves do look the same. Thanks to you both.

However, when I just went outside to check the leaves, I also looked at the other shrub a few metres away that I thought was the same. But it has much thinner leaves. Here is a photo:



Any ideas on this one? It is very similar to the other one apart from the leaves.
