Moving roses

we are redesigning a flower border and am interested in what we can do with 4 roses we would like to keep,  the border needs to be eradicated of ground elder.  Can I pot the roses to keep until we are ready to plant them again?  Thanks

You can try, depends on how big they are and how lonq  they have been planted.
Unfortunately they are now in active growth and it might make it more difficult to keep them going.
Is there no way you can leave them in and remove the ground elder around them by hand or individually paint the leaves with the appropriate weedkiller?

In my ignorance I have moved fully grown roses regardless of them being dormant or not. They have survived such cavalier treatment with no ill effects but I would suggest that they would maybe not like it if it was done too often. Perhaps put them into large pots until early spring next year before disturbing their roots again.
However I am no expert so I could be completely wrong, my OH will tell you I often am!
