Bamboo help

I was given a large clump of bamboo last year. I have split it and it’s in two large pots. The canes had been cut to the ground, no new culms have appeared yet and I’m wondering if the plants are dead! There’s no sign of any growth on them whatsoever. Should I be patient or am I wasting my time? The green in the photo are weeds rather than bamboo leaves

I'd be tempted to lift it from the pot and check the root condition.
By cutting all the top growth off there has been nothing to feed the plant and thus the roots.
