Long spindly dahlias

I'm following the show and am growing dahlias from seed and they seem to be coming on ok but seem much much taller and skinnier than the ones I saw Monty had grown which seemed more stocky. Is it just the different varieties or do I need to do something different?

Thanks! My first foray into growing from seed so was really pleased they all germinated then worried they were too lanky! Glad you think they look OK 👍🏽
