Free Range Tomatoes - well, uncaged tomatoes.

I need some advice on growing tomatoes cordon instead of caged. I want to grow my plum tomatoes cordon so I can get more plants into the space and allow air to flow. The thing is, I am not sure how close I can grow my plum tomatoes. Can anyone please give me some advice on this subject. I want to harvest enough tomatoes to can 50 to 60 pints.

Depends on the variety ... you need ‘indeterminate’ varieties in order to grow them as a cordon. 

Also some varieties make bigger plants than others and consequently need more space.
