I planted some ‘Ranunculus asiaticus Aviv White’ bulbs last year in a bed in my front garden. There is a white beautyberry bush in there too but that is all. I planted nothing else.

When things started to grow the leaves were different on some plants. So I figured something is a weed, I will work out what when I get the flowers.

I now have a flower. This looks more like an anemone I think.

Any ideas? I'm quite new to this really.
Looks like I have a rogue bulb or two... or maybe my ranunculus has gone a bit awry!

Hi @Evecake the flower does look like a Japanese anemone to me as well. What do the leaves look like at the base of the plant? Could you get a photo?

I think it could be a white Iceland poppy. They seed themselves.

    Too early for Japanese anemones.
I think poppy too. Leaves look right.
How can you lie there and think of England

Thank you all! Poppy fits... a few years ago I did try a wildflower seeds mix here, but nothing at all grew. I figured it was a duff lot.

Looks like some of them might have finally woken up!
