Clematis avalanche - dead???

Hi, has my lovely avalanche met it’s maker??? It was lush and green all through winter, buds appeared in late march but it’s since looks dry, no flowers and generally unhappy. Some brown leaves, some still green but defo unhappy. It was moved from the ground to a pot end of last summer but seemed really happy for months after that. Any ideas?

The problem is we've had the double whammy of no rain for weeks and weeks, and frosts. Only suggestion is to water it very generously, and hope for warmer weather.

A picture might elicit more expert help from others.

How big is the pot and what soil did you use?
Although they need water it needs to be free draining especially over winter, so is the pot off the ground?
