Do you think the branches without leaves on this Salvia hot lips are dead? Should I cut back to just the healthy branches? Not sure if this salvia is floundering because it’s in a pot and perhaps should be planted in the ground? Any advice welcome!
I would plant it in the ground if you can, somewhere in full sun (or at least a fair amount of sun) and good drainage. Cut off all the dead stuff back to a strong green shoot . Mine still needs a proper "haircut" but l'm waiting a bit longer in case of any more frosty nights. Depending on whereabouts you are in the country, you should be fine to do it now .

I did mine last weekend as we are down in Kent so limited frosts now (hopefully!). Mine was in a trough last year and performed brilliantly but I have put it out in the border this year as it definitely out grew its container. Fabulous plant and a great one for cuttings - I took cuttings last year and they all rooted so plants for free!! Marvellous!!

Oh please share how you took cuttings, I’ve never done this. Also best time of year to do it?
