Toona Sinensis Flamingo - not pink?!

Hi all,

I’m a bit of a gardening novice, but I purchased a toona sinensis flamingo last year as a young potted plant with thoughts of planting it in the garden this year. There was the slightest hint of pink on the new growth (literally for a few days) but mostly it was green leafed - but it was near the end of the season so didn’t think much of it. It duly lost its foliage through winter and recently has started growing very well. The only issue is there are no pink leaves! The buds are sprouting light green and they just continue growing green from there.

Have I been sold a dud Flamingo, or is this something to do with temperature / soil type / something else?

Any ideas or advice very much welcomed! Thanks :-)

I also planted one last year. I'm in North East Scotland, so the buds on mine are just starting to form. No foliage yet. The buds are red, so i hope they open pink!
I bought mine from Millais. Where did you get yours from?
