What's wrong with my secateurs?

I found my lost friskar P94 secateurs ( the one with the rolly handle) when cleaning out the shed.
The handles won't spring open.
I unscrewed everything I could , cleaned it with a toothbrush and gave it a good dose of WD40.
The actual spring seems ok to me.
Has anyone an idea what might be wrong with them?

It looks like there's an internal gearing system so it might be the cogs are stuck with something. You might need to soak it in WD40 for a while and see if that frees things up. Plusgas would do a better job though if you have any.

A friend of mine once bought an old metal bottle holder and trolley in a junk shop in Brussels.  It was brass, quite fancy and had wheels that were jammed with rust and gunk.  She was advised to stand them in coca cola (acidic) for a few days to free them up then scrub clean, dry and treat with some WD40.

I have  some white lithium grease whatever that is. I have coke and I have some WD40 left. I'll try  the coke next. I pretty much drowned them in WD40 already.
Sounds like I don't have to give up on them yet. They were my favourites.
    Thanks @wild edges @Obelixx
