My husband bought me this beautiful magnolia, which he planted for my birthday at the beginning of March. It was fine for a couple of weeks, but now has brown flowers and buds, and the leaves which were emerging are going brown too

Could it be that the late frost got it, but it's still alive, or is it dying? If so, is there anything I can do to help it? It's in a sunny, sheltered spot. Thanks for any advice - I feel a bit depressed that I might have killed it.

Next year when frost is forecast some horticultural fleece over it will protect.
It will recover.
