Planting ideas please

I have a small triangular area behind my pond (not a wet area as the water is contained). It is approximately 50cm wide and 30 cm across the widest point. I'm wanting to plant something for wildlife to hide in plus add colour. It is against a north facing fence. It's quite hard to get to so need something with no maintenance. Ideally need evergreen so the leaves don't fall into the pond. Am I asking for the impossible?!!!

Pittosporums have a number of nice evergreen varieties and if you want one that stays small and has nice winter colour then tom thumb might be worth considering. There are also some varieties of hebe you could use that are evergreen and also have more noticeable flowers.

Tom Thumb looks like a good option. Is there a particular hebe you could recommend?

Given it is north facing (and therefore presumably shaded) how about sarcococca or a fern?
