Young Lavender plants

MeomyeMeomye Posts: 849
I have just received my young Lavender plants in 9cm pots. Do I have to pot up or are they ok to plant out? I have been potting up lots of other young plants but I was not sure if Lavender was robust enough to go straight out, they are supposedly 'hardy' varieties. T i a.

If they've got a good root system and they're the English as opposed to French variety then l would say yes. Depends whereabouts you are in the country though, it is a very cold Spring. If the soil is warm enough it should be fine  :)
  • I think it's getting late enough that you could put them straight into the soil without trouble. They will have longer to develop, though development will be a bit slower (but compensated for by the earlier acclimatisation to any soil pathogens, texture, etc). Go for it.

Thanks @AnniD and @Cambridgerose12, I will go ahead and plant out. Although it has been cold overnight I believe, the soil is warm enough.
